He’s got his cousin, Gwen, who’s secretly super smart and ends up dabbling in magic (because why not?), and Grandpa Max, who claims to be a retired plumber... but is obviously a super-secret intergalactic agent. I mean, come on! Who packs a fishing rod that shoots lasers? My own grandfather only shoots grumpy stares. Quelle différence!
Ben 10: Alien Force - The Teenage Angst Years
Fast forward five years. Ben's older, wiser...and has taken off the Omnitrix. Quelle horreur! But don't worry, the universe can't leave a guy alone, can it? Alien Force is where things get a little… darker. Ben is dealing with teenage stuff – girls, responsibility, the looming threat of intergalactic war. It’s like Spider-Man, but with way more tentacles and fewer awkward school dances. He now has access to a whole new set of aliens, including Swampfire (a plant-based dude with flames), Humungousaur (because sometimes you just need to be REALLY big), and Jetray (who can fly really fast). The choices, les choix !
The animation style is also different; more mature, more serious. It's like Ben went from eating popsicles to drinking espresso. Personally, I missed Stinkfly's stink. But hey, character development, right? Alien Force really explored the consequences of having this kind of power, and how it affected Ben and his relationships. It was actually pretty deep, for a cartoon about a kid turning into aliens.
